Janardan Singh Gehlot Elected International Kabaddi Federation Chief
ü  Janardan Singh Gehlot was elected the president of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) for the next four years,
ü  It was announced after the Annual General Congress (AGC) of the federation, conducted in Dubai, the UAE.

Trump appoints Indian-American Uttam Dhillon appointed as new head of key federal agency
ü  Uttam Dhillon, an Indian-American top White House lawyer, has been appointed as the new head of the crucial Drug Enforcement Agency that combats the smuggling and use of narcotics in the US.
ü  Dhillon replaces Robert Patterson, who has retired after 30 years of service.

Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel Appointed NGT Chairperson
ü  Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, who retired from the Supreme Court of India has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
ü  He has been appointed to the position for a term of five years, as per an order issued by the personnel ministry.
ü  The post of NGT chairperson had been lying vacant for more than 6 months after the retirement of Justice Swatanter Kumar.

Mark Zuckerberg Becomes World’s 3rd-Richest Person
ü  Facebook Inc. co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has overtaken Warren Buffett as the world’s third-richest person. Zuckerberg, who trails only Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos and Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates.

Pedro Sanchez sworn in as new PM of Spain
ü  Spanish Socialist Pedro Sanchez has been sworn in as the new prime minister of Spain by King Felipe.
ü  He replaced Mariano Rajoy.
ü  He took the oath to save constitution without a bible or crucifix - a first in Spain's modern history.

M K Jain has been appointed as RBI deputy governor
ü  Mahesh Kumar Jain (MD & CEO of IDBI Bank) has been appointed as fourth deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a three year term.
ü  Jain was previously CEO at Chennai based Indian Bank between November 2015 and March 2017.
ü  The fourth deputy governor’s post has been vacant since SS Mundra retired on July 31, 2017. In his new role, Jain is expected to be put in charge of banking supervision.

H R Khan appointed chairman of Bandhan Bank
ü  Former RBI deputy governor H R Khan has been appointed as the non-executive chairman of Bandhan Bank
ü  Appointment of Khan will be for a period of three years with effect from June 5, 2018.

Arvind Saxena appointed as acting UPSC chief
ü  Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) member Arvind Saxena has been appointed as the acting chairman of commission from June 20,2018.
ü  1978-batch Indian Postal Service officer, Saxena will take over the charge from incumbent Vinay Mittal who completes his term at UPSC
ü  Saxena joined the UPSC in May 2015 after completing his stint in Aviation Research Centre (ARC). He has also worked in Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Sharad Kumar appointed as vigilance commissioner in CVC
ü  Former NIA chief Sharad Kumar has been appointed as vigilance commissioner in the probity watchdog Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
ü  Mr. Kumar has been appointed vigilance commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission for a term of four years.
ü  62-year-old Mr. Kumar is a 1979-batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre. He retired in September last year after heading the National Investigation Agency, an anti-terror probe organization, for over four years.
ü  T.M Bahism is the 2nd Vigilance Commission. There are two Vigilance Commission.
ü  KV Choudhary is the Central Vigilance Commission.


Bhanu Partap Sharma has been appointed as chairman of Bank Board Bureau
ü  Former DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training) secretory Bhanu Partap Singh has been appointed as chairman of Bank Board Bureau (BBB) by succeeding Vinod Rai.
ü  Vinod Rai has been appointed as 1st chairman of BBB for two years.
ü  Banks Board Bureau (BBB) is an autonomous body of the Government of India.
ü  Tasked to improve the governance of Public Sector Banks, recommend selection of chiefs of government owned banks and financial institutions and to help banks in developing strategies and capital raising plans.
ü  In February 2016, the Modi government approved the proposal for setting up BBB and it started functioning from April 2016.
ü  The BBB works as step towards governance reforms in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) as recommended by P.J. Nayak Committee.
ü  The BBB was the part of Indradhanush Plan of government.

Rana Kapoor re-appointed as MD & CEO of Yes Bank for 3 years
ü  Private sector lender YES Bank shareholders have approved re-appointment of Rana Kapoor as chief executive officer and managing director of bank for three years.

Dr. Inder Jit Singh appointed as Coal Secretary
ü  Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Dr. Inder Jit Singh as coal secretary at Shastri Bhawan office, New Delhi.
ü  1985-batch Kerala cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dr. Inder Jit Singh took over charge of Secretary which fell vacant after superannuation of Susheel Kumar.

Ivan Duque won election to become Colombia's President
ü  Colombia has chosen Youthful right-winger Ivan Duque to be its next president after a long campaign that often centered on a controversial peace process with leftist rebels the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
ü  With 98% of votes counted, Mr Duque had 54% of the vote, giving him an unassailable lead over his only rival, former leftwing Gustavo Petro, who had 41.8%.
ü  Duque will be Colombia's youngest ever President (42 years).

Sandeep Bakhshi appointed as COO of ICICI Bank
ü  ICICI Prudential Life Insurance CEO Sandeep Bakhshi has been appointed as whole-time director and chief operating officer (COO) of ICICI bank for a period of five years.
ü  It is a new top position at India’s second largest private bank to direct all its businesses.

ü  ICICI Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Chanda Kochhar will be on leave till completion of enquiry. However, she will continue to remain CEO and MD of bank.

Arijit Basu appointed as Managing Director of State Bank of India
ü  The government appointed Arijit Basu as managing director of country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI).
ü  Mr Basu has held several key positions in various circles of SBI including bank's office in Tokyo, Japan.
ü  Basu started his career with State Bank of India in 1983 as a probationary officer.
ü  Rajnish Kumar as the chairman of the bank.

B.V.R Subramanyam appointed as J&K Chief Secretary
ü  B.V.R. Subrahmanyam (Senior IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre) was appointed as new chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.
ü  55-year-old Subrahmanyam, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed in place of incumbent B B Vyas.
ü  He has also served as Private Secretary of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from 2004-2008.
Ramesh Appointed Chairman Of CBIC- Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)
ü  Senior bureaucrat S Ramesh has been appointed as chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC),
ü  He succeeded Vanaja N Sarna.
ü  Ramesh, a 1981 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise), is at present the member in the board, mandated with the responsibility of implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Chandra Bhushan has been appointed as new Deputy Election Commissioner
ü  Chandra Bhushan has been appointed as the Deputy Election Commissioner at joint secretary level in Election Commission of India.
ü  Bhushan, 1995 batch IAS Officer of Union Territories Cadre, has been appointed to the post for five years.
ü  Om Prakash Rawat is the current Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners are Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa.

Sanjeev Nautiyal appointed as new MD & CEO of SBI Life Insurance
ü  SBI Life Insurance appoints Sanjeev Nutiyal as its new Managing Director and CEO.
ü  He replaced Arijit Basu who has now been posted as Deputy Managing Director of Corporate Accounts Groups.
Subrata Bhattacharjee Appointed as Next Ambassador of India to Serbia
ü  Joint Secretary in Ministry of External Affairs Subrata Bhattacharjee has been appointed as Next Ambassador of India to Serbia.
ü  He is 1989 batch IFS Ofiicer.

Ban Ki-moon elected as new chairman of Boao Forum (BFA)
ü  Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has been elected as chairman of 'Boao Forum for Asia' (BFA) by replacing former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. His appointment took place at the annual session of the forum called “Asian Davos”.
ü  The BFA is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation that promote regional economic integration and bring Asian countries closer to their development goals.

Rishad Premji has been appointed as chairman of Nasscom
ü  Rishad Premji, Board member of Wipro Ltd, has been appointed as Nasscom (National Association of Software and Services Companies) chairman.
ü  Premji has been a member of NASSCOM’s Executive Council.
ü  He replaced Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of Quatrro Global Services.
ü  NASSCOM also appointed Keshav Murugesh as the Vice Chairman for 2018-19.

Balram Bhargava has been appointed as new DG of ICMR
ü  Balram Bhargava has been appointed as the new Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research.
ü  At present, Bhargava is a senior consultant cardiologist at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIMS).
ü  Renu Swaroop has been appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology.
ü  Mr. Bhargava will succeed Soumya Swaminathan.

IPS Officer Rajesh Ranjan has been appointed as DG of CISF
ü  Senior IPS officer Rajesh Ranjan has been appointed as Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
ü  Currently, Mr Ranjan is at Special Director General at Border Security Force (BSF).
ü  He has been appointed as the chief of the CISF till 2020.

Lt Gen PP Malhotra appointed as Director-General of NCC
ü  Lieutenant General PP Malhotra became Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organization in the world.
ü  He has been the Chief Engineer of the Army’s premier Northern Command.

Dilip Chenoy appointed as FICCI Secretary General
ü  Dilip Chenoy has been appointed as the Secretary-General of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
ü  He replaced Sanjaya Baru.
ü  Dilip Chenoy was working as Director General of industry body, FICCI.

Indu Malhotra has been appointed as SC Judge
ü  Senior lawyer Indu Malhotra has been appointed as the judge of the Supreme Court in presence of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
ü  President Ram Nath Kovind made this appointment.
ü  She has now become the 1st woman lawyer to be directly appointed as Supreme Court judge.
Shri Sanjay Mitra New DRDO Chairman-
Shri Sanjay Mitra, IAS (WB:1982), Defence Secretary, would hold the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Defence Research & Development and Chairman, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) for a period of three months w.e.f. 29/05/2018 and until further orders.
Anil kumar Jha new CMD of Coel-
ü  Anil kumar Jha will replace acting chairman Suresh Kumar, an IAS officer, who has been holding the post of additional secretary at the ministry of coal.
ü  Jha will remain the chairman till his retirement which falls due on January 31, 2020 – less than two years from now. 
Subhash Chandra Khuntia new Chairman of (IRDAI)
ü  Former IAS officer Subhash Chandra Khuntia was today appointed as the new Chairman of Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for three-years.
ü  His appointment was approved by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), IRDAI said in a statement
Sitanshu Kar new Chief of PIB
ü  Sitanshu Kar will replace Frank Noronha as principal director general of the Press Information Bureau, according to a statement from the information and broadcasting ministry
